This 150-hour, non-credit course prepares the Medical Administrative Assistant for a role in today’s medical offices and facilities. This national certification program is designed to give students an opportunity to gain skills necessary for this growing job market. Topics include basic medical terminology, communication and interpersonal skills, administrative duties, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and privacy practices, and office and financial procedures.
Upon successful completion of the class, the student will be eligible to take the National Certified Medical Administrative Assistance (CMAA) exam through the National Healthcareeer Association (NHA).
Class Schedule
Online classes are offered in the spring and fall semesters. Please refer to the current Continuing Education Schedule of Classes for upcoming dates and times.
Requirements for Registration
Placement testing is required (college transcript will be accepted in lieu of placement test). Please refer to the current Continuing Education Schedule of Classes for details. Starting in July 2024 students will be required to have completed a Medical Terminology class prior to registration for the CMAA class.

Financial Assistance
Financial assistance through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act is available for students who qualify. These funds may assist with registration fees, books, required supplies, and national/state exams.
