Medical Laboratory Technology Program Outcomes

The program outcomes below demonstrate Coastal Carolina Community College’s commitment to the mission of the Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program.

Graduation Rate

This table shows the number of students who began the final half of the MLT program and graduated. Coastal Carolina Community College considers students who enroll fall semester of the second year of the MLT program to be entering the final half of the MLT program.

Three-Year Average: 96%

Benchmark = 70% graduation rate for those students who began the final half of the program calculated by the most recent three-year period.

Certification Rate

Upon satisfactory completion of the program, graduates may be eligible to sit for the national certificate examination given by the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC exam). Granting of the Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree from the MLT program is not contingent on passing an external certification exam.

Placement Rate

The placement rate, as defined by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS), is the number of AAS graduates who found employment in the field or a closely related field and/or continued their education within one year of graduation.

Benchmark = 70% placement rate of respondent graduates either found employment in the field or a closely related field and/or continued their education within one year of graduation as calculated by the most recent three-year period.
